‘Students have been in the vanguard’ of US social movements

Al Jazeera interviewed Jody Armour of the USC Gould School about student activism in the wake of the Parkland, Florida, shootings.

There are several youth movements in history across the U.S. and other countries in the world. Some of them were squashed, but their impact on a country’s political system and national culture lingered.

Jody Armour indicated that these students in the gun control protest had been in a position to say, “we are gonna bring the ghosts of our dead classmates with us to every debate”.
