Data for Progress featured a memo co-written by Jody Armour of the USC Gould School on how California prosecutors must do more to protect their communities from the coronavirus.

The Supreme Court of the United States has held that it is cruel and unusual punishment to hold prisoners in unsafe conditions that expose them to serious health risks from infectious diseases. Prosecutors should not exercise their discretion in ways that contribute to cruel and inhumane conditions of confinement.”
