Sean Gailmard, is the Judith E Gruber Associate Professor and Vice Chair of The Charles and Louise Travers Department of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses primarily on problems of accountability in American government, particularly in the bureaucracy, Congress, and the electoral process, and he specializes in game-theoretic and statistical modeling in these areas. In addition, he conducts laboratory-based experimental research on collective decision making. Professor Gailmard has published articles in leading journals, including the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, and Quarterly Journal of Political Science. He is currently writing a book on accountability and the development of expertise in the executive branch (University of Chicago Press) and a textbook on statistical modeling in social science research (Cambridge University Press).
Arguably one of the finest political economists working on public administration questions in the nation, Sean will discuss some key findings from his collaboration with John Patty (Washington University, St Louis).
