Did you get a raise? Pay hikes are helping some cope with Southern California’s rising rents

The Orange County Register featured research by Richard Green of the USC Lusk Center that predicts rents across Los Angeles will rise by $136 per month by 2019. Demand for housing continues to increase with job and population growth, but Los Angeles housing development has failed to keep pace with this trend.

“Lots are scarce [in Los Angeles] and that scarcity has been created by the regulatory machine which makes housing very expensive,” Green told ABC News Los Angeles affiliate KABC-AMSan Fernando Valley Business Journal also covered the study.
