State Controller Betty T. Yee was elected in November 2014, following two terms of service on the California Board of Equalization, and reelected for a second term as Controller in 2018. She was the tenth woman in California history to be elected to statewide office.

As the state’s chief fiscal officer, Controller Yee chairs the Franchise Tax Board and serves as a member of the CalPERS board, CalSTRS board, the State Lands Commission, the Board of Equalization, and many state financing authorities through which she is dedicated to increasing the number of affordable housing units, spurring economic development, supporting pollution-control innovations, and strengthening health and educational facilities.
