April 11, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

This year’s Lunch with a Leader series has featured those who lead through academic initiatives, cultural diplomacy through architecture, and social justice through medicine.

Please join us for a conversation on leading the advancement of women through public policy.

Emerald Archer is the inaugural director of Center for the Advancement of Women at Mount St. Mary’s University. Through the Center, Archer’s primary goal is to promote and increase gender equity in California and our region. She leads the Center’s efforts related to gender equity applied research, education and policy analysis.

Prior to joining Mount Saint Mary’s, Archer served as the associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and as a faculty member in the politics and history department at Woodbury University. She has dedicated her research to gender equity, stereotype threat and women’s representation in non-traditional sectors.

Archer has been the recipient of numerous fellowships, including the Faculty Development Award and Senior Fellows Award from Woodbury University, the Silberman Follow-Up Fellowship from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., and a Carnegie Corporation of New York Fellowship. She holds a PhD in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Lunch with a Leader provides students, faculty, and members of the public the opportunity to hear ideas from local, state, and national leaders, share their own ideas, and gain inspiration for effective governance in a more intimate and informal setting.
