PIPE* Workshop: Jeffrey Weaver, USC Dornsife

November 19, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Monitoring bureaucratic performance in developing country governments

A major challenge faced by developing country governments is how to successfully monitor bureaucratic performance, especially in environments with weak state capacity. In this research, we test whether a phone-based monitoring system can provide a scalable, cost-effective means for addressing this challenge.

Jeff Weaver is an assistant professor of Economics at USC Dornsife since 2018. He is an economist working on a range of topics in labor economics, development economics, and political economy.

The PIPE Collaborative holds scholarly interdisciplinary workshops which bring together USC faculty and graduate students from Price, Gould, Marshall, Dornsife (the Political Science and Economics Departments) who have an interest in political institutions and political economy. The workshop will provide a regular forum for PIPE scholarship and create an environment for new collaborations to develop.
