Michael Olson, assistant professor of political science, focuses his research on the relationship between electoral and legislative institutions and legislative representation in the United States using observational data from across history and levels of government. Particular interests include the effects of competitive party systems, the impacts of electoral and legislative reforms, and the importance of the elective franchise.
Prior to joining Washington University, Michael completed his Ph.D. in Political Science at Harvard University, and B.A. in Political Science at Vanderbilt University.
