Published by USC Bedrosian Center on

In a recent letter to the Price Community Dean Knott announced that Dr. Geraldine Knatz has been appointed as Professor of the Practice of Policy and Engineering, in a dual appointment at the USC Price School and the Sonny Astani Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Dean Knott said this of Dr. Knatz:

Dr. Knatz is a past and present member of several boards. She is a past member of the Viterbi School of Engineering Board of Councilors, past president of the International Association of Ports and Harbors, and currently serves as the Chairman of the World Port Climate Initiative. She continues to serve as Gov. Brown’s appointee on the Ocean Protection Council, and is also still involved in efforts to implement the National Ocean Plan created by Pres. Obama.

Internationally recognized for her accomplishments, Dr. Knatz has received numerous awards, including Outstanding Women in Transportation (Journal of Commerce, 2007), Woman Executive of the Year (LA Business Journal, 2007), Compass Award (Women’s Leadership Exchange, 2008), honorary PhD, Maine Maritime Academy (2009), and the Peter Benchley Ocean Award (Blue Frontier Campaign, 2012). This year she was named a member of the National Academy of Engineering for her “international leadership in the engineering and development of environmentally clean urban seaports.”

The Bedrosian Center was pleased to have Dr. Knatz as part of a  networking night focusing on women in public administration. Her advice was sage and humorous, and we feel that she will be a wonderful addition to the policy practitioners teaching at USC Price.

Welcome to Dr. Geraldine Knatz!
