Governing Climate Change Adaptation

Published by USC Bedrosian Center on

Dan Mazmanian gave a keynote address entitled “A Robust Strategy for Governing Climate Change Adaptation” at the Governance of Adaptation symposium in Amsterdam on March 22-23, 2012.

His talk outlined a governing framework that would enable policy, planning, and major development adaptation choices to be made in the face of deep uncertainty. Building on the work of the California Adaptation Advisory Panel (Pacific Council), Mazmanian expanded on the panel’s robust approach to governing adaptation. He discussed the panel’s recommended policies and decision processes within the context of a framework law that would set the course of adaptation policy at the macro/global level. Read the paper.
