Two years ago, 92nd Street Y Executive Director Henry Timms came up with an idea. To maintain the spirit of Thanksgiving in a culture that has been overrun by Black Friday and Cyber Monday, he started Giving Tuesday, a day dedicated to giving back to our communities. Giving Tuesday calls us to join charities, families, businesses, nonprofits, and students to celebrate a tradition of generosity and gratitude with a global day of giving. Since the first Giving Tuesday in 2012, the day has become a global movement involving more than 10,000 organizations worldwide.

This year, the USC Bedrosian Center asks you to consider joining us in the spirit of generosity by supporting our programs. Thanks to our supporters, we have hosted over 200 students, faculty, and community members this fall to discuss effective public policy implementation with leaders from across Southern California. At these free events, we give USC students the opportunity to engage with practitioners to see how coursework can apply in the real world. We strive to make these events intimate and informal so that students have an open space to ask questions and explore how effective governance really works in practice.

Your time and financial resources contribute greatly to the Bedrosian Center’s mission of engaging our community in understanding effective governance.

If 100 people give just $15, we could cover the expenses for our next Lunch with a Leader event.

If all 1,600 people who attended one of our 2013-2014 events gave $15, we would be able to cover the costs of a full season of Lunch with a Leader events, faculty research grants,  and student assistantships.

In addition to the programs above, your contributions would support our Research Center Collaborativesthe Bedrosian Book Club Podcast, Leading From the West speaker series, and other programs throughout the academic year. As we celebrate this day of giving, we thank you for your support and encourage you to share the spirit of generosity.
