On January 26, the Bedrosian Center welcomes Nick Griffin to USC for our first Lunch with a Leader of the 2016! Mr. Griffin is the Director of Economic Development for the Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID). He will join us for a discussion about the recent growth of Downtown LA and the rise of Business Improvement Districts (BIDs). m_2016-01-06

Downtown Los Angeles is in the midst of a vibrant urban revitalization as new businesses, retail spaces, and apartment buildings are popping up and bringing energy to neighborhood. DCBID represents a group of property owners that is working to improve the downtown area in the midst of these changes to make it a better place to live and work.

Mr. Griffin leads DCBID’s economic development strategy, which focuses on four main sectors: office and industry, retail and hospitality, residential, and arts and culture. Using his experience as a leading commercial leasing and sales broker, Mr. Griffin works with businesses that are considering relocating to downtown LA and helps attract more businesses and residents to the area. He is driving DCBID’s 2016 initiative to spread the word about downtown’s exciting arts and culture scene. As Mr. Griffin told GlobeSt.com, “We feel like there is a critical mass of arts and culture that is just hitting a tipping point now… The initiative in 2016 will focus on arts and culture as an economic driver and how it is an economic driver for retail, residential, creative office and technology companies.”

Lunch with a Leader provides students, faculty, and members of the public the opportunity to hear ideas from local, state, and national leaders, share their own ideas, and gain inspiration for effective governance. Join us on Tuesday, January 26, at 12pm for our conversation with Mr. Griffin!

Seating is limited. Please email Donnajean Ward at [email protected] to receive an invitation to the event. We look forward to seeing you there!
