What does Stockton want in its next city manager?

Robert Denhardt quoted in an article on Stockton’s search for a new city manager.

Even if the tax hike fails and Stockton is left scrambling, the city will likely find a strong replacement, said Robert Denhardt, director of leadership programs at the University of Southern California Price School of Public Policy’s Sacramento Center.

City manager types are top-notch professionals who seek out challenges, he said.

“I would think that you might find some people out there that would consider this one of those jobs,” said Denhardt, noting bragging rights would be part of the payoff. “If you did it very well, it would give you a nice story to tell in the future.”
