Protesters at US Capitol treated differently than Black protesters
Spectrum News 1 featured Jody Armour of the USC Gould School on his observations following the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
“Protestors saw police stand by and stand back in a way that is unimaginable for black protesters. It was like a natural experiment where we control for one variable-rowdiness, disruptiveness-and then we change the identity of the people being being policed…The police policed their political soulmates differently than those they saw as political adversaries.”
"Black lives are treated differently than non-Black lives when they protest, and allies of Black lives are treated differently than allies of Trump supporters."
