We are pleased to announce our March book picks: Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson and Twilight of Democracy: The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism by Anne Applebaum.
Read one, or both, along with us!
This month, our reading will look at the question of elites within a democracy. Must a republic, such as ours, rely on a hierarchical caste system in order to exist? Does this caste system perpetuate anti-democratic norms? How have these castes been defined in our history, and how are these castes affecting the present push toward authoritarianism?
We’ll discuss Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste and Anne Applebaum’s Twilight of Democracy.
We hope that you will read along and engage in the question of the age – will the American experiment fail?
Happy reading! 📚
